About TajweediQuran

TajweediQuran lets anyone read the Quran online, free, in the page layouts people learn from: the 16-line Indo-Pak Mushaf and the 15-line Madani Mushaf, both with colour-coded Tajweed. It adds tools for teachers and students, such as mistake marking, annotation and a magnifier.

Who runs it

TajweediQuran was founded on 28 May 2023 and is run by Farhan ul Haq in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is free, with no ads and no sign-up. You can write to info@tajweediquran.com or use the contact page.

Source of the text

The Quran text and page layout data come from the Quranic Universal Library (QUL).

  • 16-line Indo-Pak: QUL's Indo-Pak Nastaleeq word-by-word script, set in the traditional 16-line Taj Company page layout, 548 pages.
  • 15-line Madani: QUL's Digital Khatt script (Hafs) in the 15-line Madani page layout, 604 pages.

How it was checked

Both editions were checked in two steps:

  1. automated character checks;
  2. manual ayah-by-ayah comparison.

Scholarly review

Both editions were audited and reviewed by Hafiz Farhan ul Haq, Dars-e-Nizami graduate (Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi).

Tajweed colours

Both Mushafs colour the same three rules, Ghunnah, Tafkheem and Qalqalah, with the same key. The colours are worked out from each Mushaf's own text; the text is never changed to fit them.

  • 16-line Mushaf: the colours follow the project's written Tajweed rule specification, which sets out exactly when each rule applies. A Tajweed teacher reviewed and approved it.
  • 15-line Mushaf: the project's own software applies the same rules to the Madani text letter by letter, using the Tajweed signs printed in it. The colours were reviewed against these rules by Hafiz Farhan ul Haq, Dars-e-Nizami graduate (Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi), before they were published (October 2026). A page shows its colours only while they match the reviewed version: if a correction changes a page, its colours are withdrawn until it is reviewed again.

The Tajweed colour guide explains each colour with examples from both Mushafs, and where the two show a word differently.

Found a mistake?

If you find an error in the text, the layout or the colours, please tell us through the contact page, with the page number and the word. A wrong colour is corrected in the rules, so that every page with the same case is corrected, and the changed pages are reviewed again.
